Why Senandung Tempo

The case for independent horological care.

What distinguishes a considered watch workshop from a general repair environment — and why it matters for the watches you value most.

What we bring to the work

Deep Horological Training

Our lead watchmaker trained in Switzerland and has worked with mechanical movements for over twenty years. This is not a supplementary skill — it is the only thing we do.

Written Documentation

Every service produces a written record. The intake condition, decisions made, components renewed, and rate data — all documented and provided to the owner.

No Shortcuts in the Process

Multi-day rate observation, not a bench hour. Staged ultrasonic cleaning, not a quick rinse. The process reflects what mechanical service actually requires.

Conservation Over Refinishing

We do not routinely polish cases or refinish dials. The patina and character of a watch are part of its story. We respect that, and we will discuss any case work before proceeding.

Clear Communication

You receive a written estimate before work begins. For heritage pieces, key decisions are discussed before they are made. You are not presented with a fait accompli.

Horological-Grade Equipment

Ultrasonic cleaning with horological solvents, calibrated pressure testing equipment, and regulated lubrication appropriate to each movement's specification — not a general workshop.

Professional Expertise

A watchmaker, not a repairer

There is a distinction worth noting between a watch repairer and a watchmaker. The former addresses problems as they present. The latter understands the movement's architecture, can assess condition at component level, and knows which forms of wear require intervention and which are cosmetic. Our workshop is staffed by the latter.

  • Swiss horological training, fifteen-plus years practical experience
  • Broad movement knowledge across Swiss and Japanese calibres
  • Vintage movement experience, including sourcing period components

Workshop Standing

Independent since 2009

Operating independently means our attention is to the watch and its owner — not to a brand's parts programme or throughput targets. Each piece receives the time it needs.

Our Process, in brief

  1. 01

    Written intake examination

Current rate, condition notes, owner observations — all documented before the watch is opened.

  2. 02

    Disassembly and component assessment

Under magnification, each part is assessed and a service estimate prepared before any work proceeds.

  3. 03

    Cleaning, renewal, and reassembly

Staged ultrasonic cleaning, component renewal as needed, careful lubrication and reassembly.

  4. 04

    Multi-day rate observation

Rate stability confirmed across positions before the watch is returned with full documentation.

Process & Methodology

A method that reflects what the work requires

Many workshops condense the service process to meet throughput demands. We do not operate on volume. Each movement is assessed individually, and the steps followed reflect what that specific calibre requires — not a standardised procedure applied across all work.

Value & Transparency

Known cost before work begins

Service pricing at Senandung Tempo is structured and communicated in writing before any work is agreed. An initial examination is conducted without charge, and a written estimate is provided. There are no charges added afterwards without discussion.

  • Movement Overhaul from MYR 1,000
  • Bezel Insert Service from MYR 750
  • Heritage Programme from MYR 2,190
  • Initial assessment at no charge

No work without consent

If assessment reveals that a component requires renewal not included in the original estimate, we contact you before proceeding. No additional work is carried out without your agreement.

What Sets Us Apart

Distinctive to Senandung Tempo

Photographic Record

For movement overhauls and the Heritage Programme, we photograph the movement at key stages. The record is provided to the owner on return.

Conservation-Led Case Work

We do not automatically refinish cases. If any case or bracelet attention is under discussion, we present options and proceed with your instruction.

Component-Level Sourcing

For vintage references, we source period-correct components where they exist — rather than substituting modern equivalents or deferring work.

Owner Consultation Throughout

Particularly on heritage pieces, key decisions are not made unilaterally. We keep you informed, and we proceed at your direction.
